Wisdom from my Patients

I have the pleasure of working with a woman who is a minister and is in her 80s. She was getting tons of phone calls from people at her church. I made a comment that she must be popular because of all her phone calls. She said, “I don’t want to be popular, I want to be ordinary.”

How would I act differently if I didn’t worry about the approval of others but instead tried to be ordinary so I could be in community with the people around me?
